At bingbangbong, we offer multi-purpose sensory conditions that encourage exploration and provide experience. I have set out to design items that can be used in different ways, across all age and ability groups, always seeking simple and robust solutions.

Although our background is in sound and music, many pieces can be stimulating to the touch as well as the ear and eye. Several of the pieces produce very powerful sound waves - they also have many delicate sounds, beautiful washes of enveloping chords and shifting beat frequencies. The sense of being Immersed in sound is definitely an option.

An auditory experience

The only piece in the bingbangbong catalogue that uses any power, in this case, an outdoor air pump.

• Air is pumped into a lower sump of water
• Gurgles, ticks or boils depending on air pressure.
• The tube is tubed to a note of your choosing (non- vulnerable version)
• and several together provide a mild but pleasant harmony (non- vulnerable)
• amazing polyrhythms with low air pressure.

• Indefinite lifespan,
• Includes the outdoor air pump and std UK fitting. Manufacturer's guarantee applies
• I have successfully linked 4 tuned gurglies to one pump.
• Inline valves give opportunity to play as a chordal ensemble instrument - kind of :)

The main body of the product is robust, the air pump being the vulnerable link. To protect against vandals, the top of the instrument may be closed and a 'rose' drilled into the tubing. This severely affects the musicality. These may be supplied with different length tops so a user can switch them between to generate different harmonic relationships.
